If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know… I have a huge passion for supporting small businesses! Whether it’s local to where I live or somewhere that I’m traveling, I always look for small businesses to support with my purchasing power. Here are some of my favorites, all of whom will ship to you, wherever you live!
Shining Sol Candle Company
I’m a sucker for candles, especially in winter! A friend got me a Red Velvet Cheesecake candle from Shining Sol for my birthday, and as soon as the weather turned chilly, it was just the pick-me-up I needed! All their candles are handmade in Virginia, with eco-friendly soy wax and atmospheric wood wicks.
If you’re local to Northern Virginia, you can stop into their Manassas location. Anywhere else, you can order from their website and have it shipped to you!

This Tennessee-based boutique is my number one favorite! All of their styles are on-trend, beautiful, and fun! They have the best holiday party outfits this season, but the best part is that they’re all about positivity and supporting fellow women. They carry clothes for all body types, and they have new arrivals coming in every week, from sweaters to SPANX, and from flirty dresses to statement jewelry!
They’re also the first company to take a chance on me as an influencer. Poppie’s Boutique and their positive attitude will always give me the warm fuzzies, y’all. Do yourself a favor and follow their Instagram @poppiesboutiquetn!

Lost in a Card Shop
It’s no secret that I love to write… But writing cards has a special place in my heart! Who doesn’t love getting a personal letter in the mail, right? A friend of mine recently gave me a set of these gorgeous water color cards from Lost in a Card Shop, and I absolutely love them! Sam, the artist, does absolutely beautiful work, and she is so kind. Could someone in your life use a big dose of encouragement? This small business is doing all they can to spread the love and kindness we could all use more of in the world. They have an amazing podcast that I absolutely love, a blog that dives deep into the things we need to read, an Instagram account @chosengirlmovement that is a ray of light in the social media darkness, and an online shop with the cutest apparel and gifts!

This one is near and dear to my heart. I’ve long been exasperated with the mainstream media, even before the “Fake News” movement started. Having earned my Communications degree, trust me when I say the meainstream media is doing more harm than good in the world. That’s why I’m so thankful for SmartHER News, started by former national news anchor Jenna Lee Babin who believes in true, non-partisan news.
Jenna doesn’t use ads, doesn’t tell you what or how to think, and doesn’t have funding from big companies or investors, who might require her to lean a certain way. She is revolutionizing the news, and her shop is an honest way she funds her company to keep it all running so well! This is one of the best small businesses you can support.
Follow SmartHER News on Instagram @SmartHerNews, check out her website, and order some small business swag at her Online Shop! Use code SHOPSMARTHER10 for 10% off your entire order!
