Caribbean

Ready for island hopping, crack conch, and snorkeling to write home about? The Caribbean might be the place for you!

The Caribbean

  • 10 Reasons to Island Hop the Caribbean - These gorgeous islands depend on tourism in a tremendous way, so I hope you will eagerly visit after hurricane season either to help these people rebuild or to offer them your tourism dollars in a year they will surely need them. Here are 10 reasons you should consider island hopping around the stunning Caribbean Sea!
  • Cruise Fiasco: Royal Caribbean International vs. Hurricane Irma - This is a different sort of post for me. I like to be positive and upbeat on my blog, and I like to offer solutions to travel problems so you can make the most of your trip, wherever you find yourself. But some friends of mine had a truly terrifying, unsatisfactory experience on Royal Caribbean International during the pre-Hurricane Irma panic, and since I am a travel advocate, I am using my blog to warn others not to book with Royal Caribbean International

Antigua

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on Antigua - The island of 365 beaches! Have you ever seen a postcard from Antigua? It really looks like that! Crystal clear water, white sand, green mountains... spectacular! But first I have to tell on myself, as I sometimes like to do.

Bahamas

  • What to Eat in the Bahamas - It's What I Ate Wednesday! I've started a series of Throwback Thursdays all about my graduation trip to the Bahamas with my friend Terri, so this What I Ate Wednesday is all about that tropical goodness!

Dominica

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on Dominica - We arrived in Dominica at 10:00am as scheduled. It's still a very rural, agriculturally-based island, and it's a totally different kind of beautiful than St. John. First of all, Sara and I met a very nice couple from Kansas City, MO, at breakfast that day. They mentioned having done mission work on one of the islands--I think Antigua?

Puerto Rico

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on Puerto Rico - Hey there all! I'm still doing great in D.C., but it was high time for another adventure... and so I chose the Caribbean! My friend Sara met up with me in San Juan, and we had a fabulous week of sunshine, beaches, rain forests, and oceans! We made 7 stops in 7 days and visited 8 islands--it was wonderful!

St. John

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on St. Thomas and St. John - What a beautiful day to spend in a beautiful place! Sara and I got off the boat pretty early and headed out to explore St. Thomas! We quickly decided, however, to take the ferry boat over to Trunk Bay on St. John. She's been there before and had told me all about how breathtakingly beautiful it is.

St. Kitts and Nevis

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on St. Kitts & Nevis - This is the ONLY place we went that rivals St. John in beauty and seclusion! It's the smallest of the islands we went to--35,000 people, and 50,000 "green velvet" MONKEYS! They monkeys have a greenish tint to their fur!

St. Lucia

  • Caribbean Cruisin’ on St. Lucia - This island was a far and away better experience than Barbados! Some friends of mine went here last year and couldn't stop talking about how wonderful it was. They were telling the truth!

St. Thomas
