Welcome back! Long time, no see! But hopefully it’s been worth the wait. I’m excited to be back and creating new content for you. Here’s your first peek at what’s been going on over the last few weeks!

What’s New

New Look

I hope you love my new colors and fonts as much a I do! I wanted to keep my pink-and-green combo, but I also wanted something more vibrant. The brighter colors better reflect how travel makes me feel, and hopefully convey the same to you.

My previous fonts were amazing when I chose them three years ago, but the ones I’m using now are a little more sophisticated. The new “fun” font is also a little easier to read, which is good for your reading purposes, too. I hope you love the new look and feel as much as I do!

New Interactive Functions

This is the new feature that I’m the most excited about! I’ve wanted an interactive map for a while, but I didn’t know how to make it happen. I’ve been using “Map Loco” for several years to highlight the countries and states that I’ve visited, but I always wanted one you could click on to take you to relevant blog posts.

You can find it on the homepage; just scroll down to “The Map” and click the region you want to explore! Plus, we’ve separated out Hawai’i and D.C. as “Bonus Locations,” so my most-read material is even easier to find!

We have new searchability, too. I’ve always had a “search” box, but it was below my featured cover image, so I think it was often overlooked. Now, it’s at the top of the page, so you know it’s available before you even start scrolling. There’s also a second search box further down the page, next to the map!

Now that my website is back and better than ever, I’ll start giving you all the amazing content I’ve been saving from my trips to Israel, Tennessee, Tahiti, and Bermuda! What Else is New?

Book Pharmacist YouTube Interview

I got to be interviewed on YouTube! My friend Tracy started her own company called The Book Pharmacist, where she “prescribes” books! I got to talk about all nine of my books and chat about travel, writing, and travel writing. (See what I did there?)

Fun fact: The host, Tracy, was one of my journalism professors in college, so she gets credit for many of the things that make me the writer I am today!

Egypt Travel Podcast

I also got to be on my favorite podcast to talk about one of my favorite countries! We actually found Egypt Elite through this podcast when Steve and I were planning our trip. I got to know the owner, John Nicholson, pretty well (I ask a lot of questions!), so he asked me to be on his podcast to talk about the trip while I was there. We recorded the episode over lunch with birds singing in the background and camels watching, so it was very atmospheric!

Israel Travel Podcast

We’ve also started a podcast! I love to listen to travel podcasts on my runs, in the air, or while I’m just doing laundry around the house, and I hope you’ll give us a listen! As previously mentioned, listening to John’s Egypt Travel Podcast is how I found Egypt Elite in the first place, which led to Steve’s and my epic trip to Egypt, which led to starting Elevation Journeys.
