It’s Travel Tip Tuesday! Summer is so close we can almost taste it, so it’s high time for a summer reading list. Whether your summer involves long-haul flights, days on the beach, or relaxing poolside, a good book is the perfect companion! Here are some of my favorites and a few on my own reading list for the summer! Click on any of the photos below to order your own from Amazon!
Murder on the Orient Express
Agatha Christie
Did you see the movie last fall? Read the novel that inspired the movie! Beginning in Istanbul and coming to a screeching halt in snowy eastern Croatia, this book is a traveler’s dream–or perhaps, their nightmare!
Death on the Nile
Agatha Christie
Did you know there’s another Agatha Christie novel coming to theaters near you soon? Pick up this murder mystery in advance. Egypt has long been on my “to go” list, so when I saw this title I had to pick it up! If you’re into a murder mystery, this has all the best elements–travel, pearls, jealousy, and more!
Country Music Broke My Brain
Gerry House
Not into murder mysteries? This book is an absolute riot! You’ll laugh until your whole body aches with belly laughs. I read it poolside last year, and the lifeguard came over to check on me to make sure I was ok–he thought I was crying! The author is my favorite morning DJ from Nashville, and he’s one of the best in the country. Having written with and for the best singers and songwriters in the business and knowing the most iconic artists in Nashville and beyond, he has the best stories to tell!
Here Today, Gone to Maui
Carol Snow
This book surprised me. I can usually figure out a plot line pretty easily (I like to think I think like a writer, of course), but this one kept me guessing! Actually, it got more intense than I was expecting, but I just couldn’t put it down. If you’re headed to paradise and looking for a book to read on the beach–or if you’ll be dreaming of paradise by the pool–this is a book for you!
Cruising Attitude
Heather Poole
Ever wanted to understand the inner workings of the airline industry? This book lets you in on all the secrets! From flight attendant training to awkward moments in the sky, this book is an easy read and a fun book to take on a long flight–and you’ll feel savvier next time you fly, too!
Lilac Girls
Martha Hall Kelly
Historical fiction is a favorite genre of mine, but when a writer can take real life events and weave them into a story that comes together like this one, I can’t help but get lost in the events. This novel brings to light an all-women’s concentration camp in World War II where Nazi doctors performed unbelievable experiments on Polish citizens, then follows them in the aftermath of those experiences.
At the same time, the book follows an American working for the war effort and one of the doctors at the concentration camp. It’s an honest look at a complicated time in world history. If Europe is on your “to go” list, an understanding of various elements of World War II will deepen your experience, and this book will be an excellent read for you.
Shaken
Tim Tebow
Looking for inspiration? Tim Tebow has some for you! He writes in such a relatable way, and his life and example are inspiring for anyone who needs the encouragement to keep going in the face of halted dreams and disappointments. If you’re looking for a book to uplift and encourage you to just keep going, this is the book you need to read.
Capital Gaines
Chip Gaines
Have you ever put off reading a book because you knew it would change your life, and you’re just not sure you’re ready for that? Is it just me? Well, that’s why Capital Gaines is on my summer 2018 reading list, even though I pre-ordered it last summer. Here we go!
