Mediterranean Palace Hotel Thessaloniki: Everything You Need to Know

You’ll have plenty of hotel choices in Greece’s second-largest city, Thessaloniki. You can find chain hotels from around the world, boutiques, local Greek brands, etc. It was hard to narrow down the options, but we were blown away by the hotel we chose. The Mediterranean Palace Hotel was stunning, welcoming, and all-around impressive! Here is what to expect if you chose to stay here on your trip to Thessaloniki, Greece, as well!

The Hotel

Wow! As soon as we walked in, we felt like we’d entered a palace, complete with grand staircase, crystal chandelier, and doormen. We were treated warmly upon check-in, and we enjoyed the refined feel of the hotel.

The Location

The Mediterranean Palace Hotel is just steps from the waterfront and all the historic sites in Thessaloniki. You’ll also be close to any number of restaurants, museums, and other sites. We had the most amazing view from our balcony overlooking the historic port and Mediterranean Sea. If you’ve been reading the blog long, you know when it comes to hotels, I’m convinced that location trumps just about everything else. This hotel has a great one!

The Room

We were very happy with our sixth floor, sea view room! The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of space to spread out as needed. We also got very excited to see so much storage space in the form of multiple drawers, two closets, and a bench space that was perfect for luggage storage. It was a very comfortable place to come “home” to after long (but wonderful!) days of touring.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was small, but functional and well-designed. There was enough space around the sink for both Steve’s and my toiletries (which is not always the case!). The shower was quite spacious, and the towels were soft. The toiletries were also of good quality and locally made, which is something I have come to not expect in my travels, so that was a pleasant surprise.

The Breakfast

To say the breakfast was impressive is an understatement. It was amazing! To be honest, my husband and I are not the biggest fan of a buffet, but this one was so plentiful, and so well-organized, we were disappointed we didn’t have it for another day! The food was fresh and refreshed often, the options were seemingly limitless, and there was a chocolate fountain, of all things. See the photos below!

The Spa

We did not have a chance to enjoy the spa on our whirlwind stay, but we did peek in to see what it was like. We will make time for both the pool and the sauna during our next stay. There is an indoor pool, hot tub, dry sauna, and more to enjoy here. We will definitely build in more time to relax next time.

The Gym

If there is a downside to this hotel for us, it’s the gym situation. This is not a problem for everyone, we know! The gym only opens at 9:00am, which is about 3-4 hours later than we would have liked. It stayed open until 9:00pm, but after a day of touring, the gym was the last thing on our minds! We did go in to have a look, but we would have certainly appreciated a 24-hour gym, or at least a 6:00am opening time.
