What to Eat in Cairns, Australia

I’ve been revamping some of my early blogging material, and walking down memory lane to Cairns has been a special delight! I’m already dreaming of a return trip to the Great Barrier Reef and all that Cairns has to offer, but to when your appetite, I decided to write about what we ate! Here are some of the best things you can eat on your own trip to Cairns.

Barnacle Bill’s Seafood Inn

This is the first place we went after flying to Cairns and checking into our accommodation. Cairns is a beach town, so seafood was on everyone’s menu, as well as at the top of our list!

Prawn Pizza

La Pizza

This spot on the Esplanade was the perfect place to enjoy Steve’s favorite food—pizza—and be close enough to hear and see the ocean! I know, I know, we had pizza already. What can I say? It’s a winner every time.

Kuranda Koala Gardens

I highly recommend a visit to Kuranda Koala Gardens to learn about the rain forest and Australian animals, too! They also have several wonderful restaurants. Don’t be afraid to try the local delicacies!

Vegemite

I always want to try the iconic local foods, right? Of course. So Vegemite was on my list for my first ever trip to Australia. Only no one told me to use it sparingly! I won’t make that mistake again!
