Updated July 21, 2020.
It’s Throwback Thursday! A while back my sweet husband whisked me off to Las Vegas for a weekend because I’d never been! I had a great time, even though I don’t gamble, smoke, drink, or do any other risqué things most people go to Vegas for! So if you find yourself in “Sin City” with no desire to be sinful yourself, here’s your ultimate guide to having good clean fun in Las Vegas, Nevada!
10. Marvel at the Over-the-top Hotels
All that gambling money has to go somewhere, and you can enjoy it all for free! We were there in January, so the temperatures were a bit chilly, even in the desert! We loved walking around the famous hotels and marveling at the over-the-top decor! In fact, the cover photo above is a carousel made entirely of fresh, live flowers!

9. Take in a Show
There are more shows to enjoy than just strip teases, believe it or not! Check out shows from Celine Dion, the Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soliel, Britney Spears, and more! Choose from comedy acts, world-renown musicians, magic shows, death-defying performances, and more!
8. Visit the Zoo and Aquarium
It’s true! There is a zoo and an aquarium at the world-famous Mirage Hotel and Casino. You can visit the white tigers, dolphins, and more on a walk through the hotel gardens. The fences are for your protection!

7. Walk the Strip
Need to get your steps in? Steve and I walked over 30,000 steps in a single day exploring the Las Vegas Strip. There are plenty of places to stop in and see what’s there, and you can cross the road easily thanks to the many, many pedestrian overpasses! Remember to take in the views from up there, too.
6. Stay at a Fancy Hotel (Off the Strip)
It’s true, the Venetian, Mirage, Wynn, and other hotel-casinos on the strip are beautiful and exciting, but there are some gorgeous hotels just a block or two off the strip (without casinos inside, and thus, without legal smoking inside). We stayed at the Trump International Hotel, and it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. The hotels just off the Strip are far less crowded, but still over-the-top and beautiful inside!
5. Visit Iconic Sites of the World
Want to take a gondola ride? Step inside the Venetian Hotel and Casino for the afternoon! Dying to see the Eiffel Tower? Just walk over to the Paris Hotel and Casino! The themed hotels really are something else. Dreaming of a trip to see the Pyramids in Egypt? Head over to the Luxor Hotel and Casino!

4. Visit Amazing Exhibits
Are you a museum lover? You’re in luck! Vegas is home to several museums in a variety of genres: art, history, Americana, chocolate, and more! Check out the Titanic Artifact Exhibit, Neon Museum and Boneyard, Atomic Testing Museum, Bodies: The Exhibition, and the Ethel M Chocolate Factory Tour and Cactus Museum, just to name a few!

3. Eat Something Over-the-top
You know this one’s a winner! Vegas is home to world-class restaurants, with new ones popping up every day! Even if you’re on a budget, choose one you’re really interested in trying, and make it an event! Go early, put in your name, and explore the immediate area while you wait for your table. It will be worth the wait! We chose Serendipity 3, and I still think fondly of those sweet potato fries and incredible sundae! We split these as a meal for two, and we left quite full! Here’s a sneak peek:

2. Take a Day Trip to the Grand Canyon
This is at the top of my “to do” list for my next trip to Vegas! You can take a helicopter tour to see the Grand Canyon from the air, and options include picnics, ground tours, and more! Since I have not had this experience (yet), here is a blog post from The Blonde Abroad detailing her experience!
Here is a list of the top 10 helicopter tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.
1. Take a Photo at the Iconic Las Vegas Sign
And, of course, make sure to get your photo with the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign! We ran out of time and didn’t make it over for the photo op, but my friends Amanda and Aaron got the shot when they got married there!

So what do you think? Are you ready for a good, clean trip to Sin City?
