Last month Steve and I put a lot of miles on the car that we share. Steve drove 460 miles round-trip to visit his mom while I took a 600-mile round-trip road trip (as a passenger) with some girlfriends to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. The next weekend, we forewent $1000+ plane tickets to Nashville in favor of a 1230-mile round-trip drive to visit my parents in Middle Tennessee.
I was recently brainstorming about what to write in the coming weeks when it hit me: I have no posts about what to expect as a visitor in the United States! It’s something I always try to research before I visit a new place, and I’ve been writing “What to Know Before You Go” posts for every place I’ve visited in the last year and a half and then some, so I thought it was high time to give visitors and newcomers to my home country a few notes on what to expect when they come to the United States for the first time.
