2017: Year of Islands
As 2017 comes to a close, I’m reflecting on our travels and realizing… we visited a lot of islands this year! When I think of islands, I think of tropical weather, beaches, sea turtles and swimming nearby. But when I looked back on our island excursions, it struck me that not all islands are the same. Join me in reliving our island experiences!
Day 1 in the Galapagos Islands
Even though people actually live on some of the islands, the whole archipelago is a national park, and you have to pay $100 per person (cash) to visit. Fortunately, we knew that in advance and budgeted for it! We got off the mid-size LAN Airlines plane and onto the tarmac, then walked into the only building on the tiny island of Baltra.
