This is not a sponsored post. I just really love this tool!
If you’ve ever found yourself completely overwhelmed when planning a trip, you are not alone. I’ve written about Trip Advisor and recommended their app a few times because it’s my go-to trip planner. They have recently changed their app to add an amazing trip planning feature that I want everyone to know about, so this post is all about how to use it most efficiently to plan your best trip!
1. Save what interests you.
This is not a new feature, but it is definitely where you should start. Search for the city you’ll be visiting, tap on “Hotels,” “Restaurants,” and “Things To Do,” and save the ones that appeal to you. You’ll be prompted to save them all to a trip.
2. Look up your trip.
When you’ve saved every place you want to do, see, eat, or stay, tap on “My Trips” at the bottom of the screen and select your trip (most recent will be at the top).
3. Map it.
When looking at your “List,” tap on “Map” in the upper right corner to see where everything is. You can also go back to your “List” view.
4. Narrow it down.
Now that you can see where everything is in relation to everything else, you might realize that some of the things you want to do are too far apart to be a realistic part of your trip. Or you might see that some things you want to do are right next to each other and can be accomplished together quickly! You can zoom in on the map and tap on your saves to see what each one is. Blue saves are activities, orange saves are restaurants, and green saves are hotels.
5. Decide when to do each activity.
Now that you can see where your most essential activities are located, you can assign them to a day to make sure you don’t leave anything out. I LOVE this new feature! You’ll be prompted to choose when you’re taking this trip, and you can move each activity, restaurant, or hotel to the day you’ll need it.
6. Edit to put your activities in order.
Now all your activities are on the correct day, but perhaps you’d like to put those in order, especially if you’re road tripping or need to do one thing before any of the others.
7. Enjoy your trip!
Now you’re ready! You can take your trip with less stress because you have a plan!
Do you use Trip Advisor for your trip planning? Tell me about it below!
Thank you!!! This makes me so happy… and so sad! I just planed a 12-day trip to Ireland the hard way. With a giant map tacked to the wall, a highlighter, and google maps! Trip Adviser ROCKS!! I will definitely be transferring my itinerary to it between now and the trip!
Have tons of fun! I’m so glad you found the post helpful because that totally made my day! ❤️🙌
Hi Whitney just looking through your site to get ideas. I’m planning on going to Hawaii to celebrate my 60th birthday next year! I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. I will use Trip Advisor to plan as you suggest. Thank you!
That’s awesome! Hawaii is my favorite place on Earth! Do you know which island or islands you want to visit? Let me know if you have questions!
Awesome! I’ve been a Trip Advisor user since the beginning, but I didn’t know about this new feature
I’m so glad you know about it now! The interface has changed a little since I took these screen shots and first posted this, but it is my #1 travel planning tool! Happy travels!
Thanks! I’ve been doing my research in trip advisor and setting the itinerary in tripit
An excellent combination!
