Train Travel to Nagoya

Originally published on 29 May 2006. This blog post is part of a larger series about my first ever trip abroad–solo to Japan!

Well, hello once again! The trip to Nagoya was ok. I feel pretty accomplished for taking the train and all that all by myself, but I was disappointed in myself for not venturing out farther. I was just too scared of getting lost and missing my train home! I’ll be braver next time. Just you wait and see!

All aboard!

I was also disappointed in the shopping. I’d heard there was this wonderful shopping center there, but I quickly discovered it was WAY too expensive for me! And apparently the “in” thing in Japan right now is American clothing. I can get that for less at Goodwill!

I got some interesting pictures, though, like my lunch (above), and a women’s Japanese toilet! Go ahead, laugh at me. I took a picture of the potty. You might be just a little shocked, though. I haven’t tried it (yet). It’s a little frightening, to tell you the truth!

Yeah, that’s the ladies’ toilet.

More to come! Oh, and I got more post cards! Send addresses!

Love, Whit

  2. I plan go to Japan on my own this April as my first ever trip. The plan is to take the train from Tokyo to Ise then Nagoya and I hope I have a pleasant journey like you did. 🙂

    1. That’s incredibly awesome! Feel free to keep following along because I’ll be continuing to post on Motivation Mondays and Throwback Thursdays about my Japanese Journey! If you have any questions let me know. I LOVED Ise, and Japan as a whole was the BEST first solo travel experience!

      1. Looking forward to more of your posts! Always in mood for travel inspiration as I count down my days until I head to Japan. 🙂
